September G. Penn first came to Angeles Mesa as a pastoral intern in 2021. The church invited her to join them in ministry after witnessing her public examination at the Pacific Presbytery meeting. She had already graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2020 with a Master of Divinity, but she had not yet completed her requirements for ordination which included passing her ordination exams. The experience working directly with the congregation of AMPC was fulfilling and quite formative. She was ordained and installed as the sixth Pastor of Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church in November of 2022. She is the first female pastor for this growing congregation.

Pastor Penn also runs a non-profit that she and her husband, Ivan Penn, created in 2015, called The Power of Song, Inc. The organization offers educational experiences regarding the Civil Rights Movement and social justice issues through song, theater, and art. When Rev.
