Reverend Timm “Jesus Man” Cyrus, Pastor Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) 1993-Honorable Retired December 31, 2016 Served for 36 yeas as an ordained Minister of the Word and Sacrament! I am an experienced leader in new church development, church re-development, and church transformation, and pastor of Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) since 1993 where we are celebrating 90 years of continuous ministry and mission. I’m a native of Louisville, Kentucky. Before   God   called   me   to   serve   in   full-time   ministry,   I   worked   as   a   human   relations   specialist for   the   Louisville   Board   of   Education.      I   earned   my   Bachelor   of   Arts   degree   in   Political Science   from   Bellarmine   University   and   my   Master   of   Divinity   degree   in   Bible   and   Church and   Society   from   Johnson   C.   Smith   Seminary   at   the   Interdenominational   Theological   Center.     I   served   in   the   United   States   Navy   as   a   criminal   investigator   at   Guantanamo   Bay,   Cuba   during the Viet   Nam War   era.      In   law   enforcement,   I   worked   with   the   Federal   Bureau   of   Investigation (FBI)   in   Washington,   D.C.,   and   the   Louisville   Police   Department.      I   am   currently   a   member of the Board of Trustees at the Interdenominational Theological Center.

God   called   me   to   serve   my   first   p astorate   at   Beth   Salem   Presbyterian   Church   (1978-1983)   in   Columbus,   GA;   and   my   second   call   at   First Community Presbyterian Church (1983-1993) in Sacramento, CA. In   addition   to   my   pastoral   duties,   I   worked   as   chaplain   for The   Sacramento   Kings;      instructor   of   Homiletics   for   the   ITC   Extension   Program and   ministry   for   the   Jack   T.   Rutledge   Correctional   Institute   in   Columbus,   Georgia;   served   as   Vice   President   of   the   National   Black Presbyterian Caucus (NBPC); and two-term member of the Board of Trustees at Monte Vista Grove Homes. I   was   also   a   member   on   the   Planning   Committee   of   the   General Assembly   when   the   former   United   Presbyterian   Church   and   Presbyterian Church   (U.S.)   united   and   became   the   Presbyterian   Church   (U.S.A.).      I   served   as   moderator   of   Pacific   Presbytery   and   the   Sessions   of Westminster (Los Angeles, CA) and St. Paul (Cordele, GA) Presbyterian Churches; and chaired the General Mission Council. Every   summer   for   the   past   32   years,   with   prayers   and   financial   support   from   Pacific   Presbytery,   NBPC-Southern   California,   community grants,   scholarships   and   neighbor   donors,   and   in-kind   donations   from   World   Vision,   I   am   privileged   to   help   lead   youth   and   young   adults through an awesome plan that benefits inter-city youth to a mountain-top camping experience.   My   wife   First   Lady   Margaret   and   I   are   blessed   with   four   fabulous   children,   a   fabulous   son-and-daughter-in-love,   and   seven   adorable grandchildren.
Long   active   in   community   affairs,   I   was   one   of   the   founders   of   the   Martin   Luther   King   Jr. Expo   and   Jobs   Fair   in   Sacramento,   California.      I   played   a   key   role   in   organizing   the   King Day   Ecumenical   Service,   co-chaired   the   first   city-wide   King   Day   Celebration,   and   was instrumental   in   honoring   Dr.   King   by   convincing   the   Sacramento   City   Council   to   rename   a street in Dr. King’s memory.
