Taking Care of Yourself: Body ~ Mind ~ Spirit

Elder Margaret Cyrus

Family of God, I thank each and every one of you for all that you do at Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church (AMPC), in love, support and service to the congregation (in reach) and community (out reach). One of our largest outreach endeavors this year was inspired by Pastor Cyrus’ sermon on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from the text Matthew 14:13-21 “Sit down, and watch this!” from Repurposed Bread, Fishes, Hearts, Hands, Feet and Soul.  Without hesitation, Naomi & Ruth Ministry took the initiative to organize a care box packed full of school supplies, personal care items, and cleaning products for Miss Safron Smith (c/o World Teach) and the children in her math class at Chuuk High School in Micronesia.  USC staff at the Rossier School of Education agreed to partner with this mission and the first of two care boxes was mailed on October 2, 2014! Miss Smith preparing her Math classroom at Chuuk High School for the first day of instruction. January 14, 2014; March 9, 2014; March 10, 2014  Assisted with job referrals (in person), and temp labor suppliers (online). Supported four Couples Marriage Enrichment activities at AMPC. Memo received from Daughter in the Faith Rosie Robertson.  “Just wanted to tell you I love you and I'm so grateful I know you. Thank you so much for all of your nuggets of wisdom and encouraging word you impart into me and the younger women of the church. We admire you. Your grace, sophistication, and strength did NOT go unnoticed. We appreciate you.  Loving you for you, Rosie” anchor tex
Naomi & Ruth began in 1999 with an in-reach/out-reach mission to: Minister to the needs of young women ages 18-35, by pairing senior women as mentors to younger women for encouragement, guidance, support and life skills. Encourage their growth to mature in their personal lives, for strengthening and stabilizing families and marriages, and growing deeper in their relationship with God. Equip them to serve others in the church with their contributions. Provide them with opportunities for ministry to our community. It is a ministry of the Intergenerational Member Care of Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church (AMPC) that provides a place of welcome and community to young women.  We especially use our gifts to help those who are hurting, feed those who are hungry, clothe those who are naked, and shelter those who are homeless.  In 2007, our mission expanded to support young women in independent living environments. The Bible is the foundation of this ministry, because it reflects God’s character and God’s view of women.  Young women are continually encouraged to attend Bible study at AMPC and participate in the scheduled Saturday Specials! that feature a series of electives on a wide range of topics of interest to young women.  Upon request, child care is provided during program activities. Resources - Naomi & Ruth Ministry is self-supported by donations.  Team members donate their time, talents and Love offering to fulfill needed services and help with the cost of materials, equipment and supplies, such as, purchasing new-born gifts, supplying the AMPC Graduate Luncheon and Church training sessions, and performing volunteer work or services in support of our activities. A Ministry of AMPC Intergenerational Member Care - The AMPC Intergenerational Member Care Ministry, oversees the ongoing Christian endeavors of the Naomi & Ruth Ministry. Naomi & Ruth continues to be blessed with mentoring relationships between responsible adult women and the younger women, and we look forward to welcoming continuing new opportunities of Christian service for expanding the Kingdom of God. Celebrating God to the fullest! Angeles Mesa Presbyterian Church First Lady Margaret Cyrus, Ministry Leader Naomi & Ruth
